HOW YOU CAN HELP H18 FOUNDATION SURVIVE THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND FEED A COMMUNITY

DURING THIS CHALLENGING TIME OUR WONDERFUL WOMEN ARE NOT CURRENTLY EARNING, neither are their neighbours, joe slovo needs your help to stop tummies from grumbling.

UPDATE, 22 May 2020: At the beginning of lockdown H18 Foundation was providing food parcels for 12 Joe Slovo families, then managed to secure food for all 25 families in the H18 Family, we are now providing weekly food parcels to 50 families in Joe Slovo.  Donor fatigue has made this increasingly challenging and each week we hope we can ensure all families get enough to last until the next week.  SA exchange rate is weak, which means that your $20 can feed a family of four for a week.  Follow our Facebook page to see what H18 Foundation is doing with your donation.  Or shop for our gorgeous crocheted products on our site

20 March 2020: – These are women, from Joe Slovo in Milnerton, that depend on their income, generated at H18 Foundation, to feed their families, to keep themselves strong so that they can look after their children and their neighbours.  This is a community that works together to make sure that everyone is safe and nourished.  During a lockdown such as the one that began on 27 March 2020, they are confined to one room, with their family, and shared ablution facilities, they do not have taps in their room (referred to as a ‘hok’).  Their living conditions immediately compromise their exposure safety, but without nourishment their immune systems will weaken and they will become more susceptible to viruses and bacteria within these shared spaces.

We have to try and help our 25 ladies, the H18 Family, stay safe during this crisis, and we need to help them buy food and pay rent. We are also trying to keep H18 Foundation viable on the other side of this crisis, so that we can continue to Uplift, Upskill and Empower.
